It was the time when I was preaching the gospel in Kimcheon. There was a brother who worked with me for the gospel. The brother's wife was pregnant and her time was near; however, she had to go hungry for a few days because there wasn't any food for her to eat. I felt so sorry for her. One day I went to a wall paper store to preach the gospel. Instead of listening to the Words, the lady who owned the store asked us a question "Do you know anyone who does wallpapering?"
So we said, "We could do it if you would let us." That day we papered the walls and ceilings of her house. It took us two full days to complete it, and after we finished it completely, we received 2500 won ($3) for wage. I felt like I was a rich man. We bought some rice, sweet potatoes which were the brother's wife's favorite food and a few mackerels. I thought to myself, "That's it! From now on we will preach the gospel papering the walls." The sister had a knife, a pair of scissors, and a ruler which she had used when she used to make western style dresses, so, we became almost professionals in wallpapering. We gave the phone number of our landlord to the storekeeper and told her to notify us if there is someone who wants to have his house wallpapered.

Finally, one day, we received a phone call from the wallpaper store. When we were just about to leave for wallpapering job, a person came to us to hear the gospel. I thought to myself that I'd finish wallpapering quickly and then preach the gospel. So, I was about to say, "Why don't you come next time?" I felt like I could preach the gospel later but I could not delay wallpapering. At that moment, Jesus asked me, "Did you come here to paper the walls or to preach the gospel?" I could not answer the question. So, instead of going wallpapering, I preached the gospel that day.
Strangely, I received the food to eat as I preached the gospel, although I did not go to wallpaper. Later, I got a phone call from the storekeeper again so I was on the way to do wall papering work and I experienced the same conflict in my heart, 'God is not pleased with me when I try to work for my own living, but He is pleased with me when I preach the gospel!'
"For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works," (Ephesians 2:10).
Like this verse, for the sake of the good work of preaching the gospel to those who don't know their ways and wander in the midst of destruction, God gave the gospel and poured the Holy Spirit upon us. In Acts chapter 16, through Paul and Silas, there were great works of the gospel in Philippi city. How are they different from us? They were whipped so severely that they had to be treated but, the first thing that Paul and Silas did in the keeper's house was preaching the gospel. God was delighted with their attitude and He also wants to give us the same attitude.
"... The Holy Spirit is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses ..." (Acts 1:18).
As time goes by, I feel that it is the work of the Holy Spirit to raise us up as the gospel preachers.
